Question The Value of Dump Valves??

As an upgrade/mod is a Dump Value value for money?

Heard different thoughts/opinions on the matter & not sure if it is a worthwhile investment.

What's the low down out there

Err, No, Its a mod that costs money for no performance gain whatsoever, Depending on the engine setup IMO

Zero gain.
Spend the money on something else.

Not only zero gain but CAN make the engine run badly, CAN cause problems which could be expensive further down the line and, worst of all, makes you look like a chav

Dump valves are wanted by tracksuit wearing and matching ,Argos cheap gold chains ,halfraud suppoeting ,rear ward wearing baseball capped chavs with teenage girlfriends who live for the Friday nights at McDonalds and know one day they will have a nice council house paid for by those that work hard

Real enthusiasts don't have Dump valves and know the issues that they cause and don't feel the desire to go wwwwwhhhhhooooosssshhhhhh

There are two types of dump valves recirculating and Vent To Atmosphere. The OE Subaru item is a recirculating and can be replaced with no issues with a different brand recirculating dump valve, usually done when fitting a FMIC. If a VTA dump valve is fitted this upsets the ECU as the MAF sensor tells the ECU X amount of air has been drawn in and that Y amount of fuel is needed. When the VTA dumps the air this results in a over rich mixture hence the poor running. If you go MAFless by runninbg a MAP sensor there are no issues with running a VTA. I have a dual port item as during normal driving is quietish (due to Induction kit) but goes to VTA at high boost so uses both ports dump dump the air.

They ought to sell dump valve and flamer kits in one handy package.

They both appeal to the same attention-seeking young driver, or insecure older driver.

Both utterly pointless. But a bit like wearing trousers with your pants on show, you either think it's cool or the most retarded look in the world. "Growing up" usually solves all these desires.

For me the only noises that i like when the foot is lifted while on boost is wastegate chatter and anti lag. Noises that get me excited, not to turn heads.

These threads are funny. "Only chavs want the noises" blah blah blah.

It's all superficial, if you like the noise of a VTA I don't know why anyone else has a problem with it? Same way if you like having gold alloys and others don't. If it damages your engine because you didn't remap it, then that's your bill to pay, not theirs.

Mine came with one on when I got it.
Quickly removed and back to standard following advice off here.

BUT, if it will get me a house paid for by someone else, And a teenage girl sat in the front seat getting all damp, Then it's goin straight back on

I'm 27 and think they're ridiculous pieces of chav tat so that kinda pisses on your 'well thought out and reasoned point'...

Guys come on its horses for courses, some love gold alloys, some love rally graphics, some love cars dumped to the floor, some love stretch tyres, some want twinscroll. It's personal choice nothing to do with being young, old or a chav or not. It would also be a very sad and boring place if we all liked the same stuff.

To the OP if they are mapped in then they will cause no issue to ny knowledge, if you try to fit and forget then you run a risk of poor throttle response, bad fueling amung things.

If YOU like it go for it, screw everyone else.

I started out the the standard re-circ, then went to a VTA.

That started to **** me off, so went DV-less.

That started pissing me off, so I went back to a re-circ.

Wouldn't say the DV or the DV-less option pissed me off, but with the FMIC and the induction kit the wastegate can be heard anyway so no need for a DV for the noise. I am about to refit a standard recirc when I fit the VF34

i do like the sound of turbo stall on a rally car and if that could be replicated on my car without removing the dv and waiting for the turbo to self destruct, then i would be happy.
i personally don't like the whoosh sound as it just screams......'look.....i've got a turbo car' but as already stated, it;s personal choice.

Mine came with an ADV fitted by the previous owner.

I have no problem either way.

However, when you go past a Bus Stop with a load of Pensioners at it, change gear.

You see them all checking their underwear was it me??
