Default Newbie - Coming From BMW

Hi all

I joined up a few years ago.. but not sure If I ever posted?!

I always look at Impreza's but the insurance is such a killer, I just thought I'd wait. a recent quote with my current insurance company has now brought it down below four figures so I am now considering it again.

I'm currently driving an e39 BMW 540i and I've had it for the last couple years, its a great car! reasonably quick, very comfortable and excellent quality feel.. however I really fancy a change to an Impreza WRX / WRX STi v.4/5..

I live in Cornwall and want a car to make the twisties more fun when its too rainy to be out on my motorbike.

Cheers

Lee

Welcome Lee,
What price range are you looking at? 2dr or 4?

I was hoping it'd be possible to get a facelifted classic STi with my £3k budget?

Looking at around £3k. We used to have a 1998' WRX ver.5 in the family many years ago.

I would want a 4 door version.

Odd, I got the 4.4 v8 BMW as a 23rd birthday present to myself, insurance is around £500-600, I can't remember exactly. Impreza STi insurance has only now come down to about £900.

Car insurance is the worlds biggest mystery?!

you should be able to get a decent sti for that but beware its a minefield, you need someone who knows what to look for to go with you or you could get stung.

Been considering changing to a v5/6 4 door recently but this has been holding me back selling mine.

My cars been in the family since import and bloody well looked after. Changing could cost me more than it's worth.
