I'm slightly interested as I am in any new consoles but I can't see me buying one, love my Xbox for home gaming but portable consoles don't have the same interest. Have a Nintendo ds I used for a few months then left in a drawer.
I bought the psp shortly after release and it got used about a dozen times in 4 years, and most of those were playing ff7 and ff9 with cfw.
I'll probably give the vita a miss unless it drops to around £130.

gameboy - sits in a drawer
ds - sits in a drawer
original psp - sits in a drawer
and like kingofturds, my psp got used for the first day, few hours the second day, and has been in a drawer since.
These are even more pointless now with the introduction of smartphones/tablets. To top it all off they insist on using their own storage media which is crazy. Sony are clueless in this day and age and it will flop outside their home market unless sold for a loss (imo).

Only time Ive ever played on a PSP was when I borrowed my brothers to go on hols which as it happens was a lifesaver as Heathrow got snowed out so lots of waiting around. Funny how many people were looking over my shoulder as I played GTA.
But never been inclined to buy one.
Have a DS Lite as like the puzzle type games like Prof Layton and World Puzzler as good for the brain and stylus works well. Also very cheap as got mine £50 refurbed at Game with 1yr warranty. Was like new just came in a plain box.

I had an original PSP and still have a DS. Since getting the ipad the PSP never got used so sold it and the DS just sits in the drawer.
I am expecting future generations of ipad to up the gpu to a spec where they can play the latest pc/console games. Ipad 3 is supposed to be quad core cpu but no news on how improved the gpu will be but I think it will be a while yet until they get it to such a level.

I have emulators running on my HTC flyer and have hundreds of N64, SNES, Megadrive, Gameboy advance and PSone games running on this. I think as said it won't be long before there is emulators for much better spec games to run on these small devices.
Yes. But it depends what you are used to. I struggle with the iPad when playing games but to my children it is natural and they have no problem controlling games with quite complex touch-screen inputs.

I have no problems playing with a touchscreen, but it's just not the right method of control for something that would naturally rely on thumbsticks or joysticks (as an example).Touchscreen games are one thing..... porting console games to a touchscreen device (effectively) is entirely different.
That's what I'm really getting at I suppose..... these devices have their limitations imo.
Ok I bought one lol 400 quid got psp lots of games mem card travel pack
So what's it like, first impressions very nice screen very smooth interface, feels same as psp.
Games
Motor storm rc. Mega mega mega like super sprint but very good controls and movement better than reckless on iPad and only 5 quid lots to do online people smashing ya records and challenging you great fun
Little deviants
Not bad shows off controls good for kids but not for me
Everybody's golf
Excellent always like this anyway and visuals are amazing, online tournaments etc
Wipeout 2048
Not bad, never played wipeout before and loving this one, very smooth but some real hard races.
FIFA
Awesome ok so controls can be like we are all used to but being able to swipe the screen for a pass to anywhere and touch the back of the psp to shoot is great, think of the back of psp as the goal mouth thought it top corner and boom , not that I've ever scored yet but I'm getting close
So last was it worth 386 quid. No way lol but I have to admit for the train holidays and bedside fun its as good as it gets, and before anybody comments I have the 3ds and 3 iPads iPhone 4s etc, and yes these are good but Noway are they as smooth as this mf,
Roll on final fantasy x and vii hd.

Played on my friends and loved it. What people have to remember is that Sony haven't marketed it at the casual gamer (ie anyone who thinks a touchscreen phone is better than a handheld device), it is for outright gamers who enjoy indepth titles and good responses from the buttons.
