Default Which version EJ20 have I got?

Recently bought a version 5 STi and trying to work out if its got a version 5 STi engine or a newage STi engine... is there any distinguishing features that will tell them apart?

Basically the engine was changed in 2001 (have paperwork/receipt for £8000) for a new STI engine. Previous owner thought it was just an STI version 5 engine but it wasnt him that had it fitted.

When I bought the car it was pretty much standard, bar a newage STI top mount???

Also, it doesnt seem to have a MAF like my previous classic impreza??

It still has the classic inlet manifold (for coil pack) so unless its just a short engine retaining the original heads its compatible.

AFAIK the newage STi even from MY01 comes with inlet valve AVCS.

Also the picture not really good enough to investigate your maf query.
