Why not buy a closed deck block from a classic circa £500, a 2.1 closed deck block will be capable of serious power. Mark at TDR should be able to source one for you

Decent newage STI motors are making circa £1500 so a fooked one wants to be at least half that.
There is crack smoker trying to sell a buggered one in the for sale section at the moment for £1500, might be worth a PM explaining what's its worth.

newage STi's are semi closed deck block and are quite a bit cheaper then the closed deck........but will be up to the job unless going for silly power

Just what I was about to ask. Sorry to thread hijack, I'm just interested in swapping out my newage wrx motor for a project sti one complete with gearbox of course. Would £2500 be about right? It would be a track car only.

Hi there

If you are looking for 400bhp i would go with new age JDM bottom end and you will be all right with this sort of power, here is one for £800 on 22b

http://bbs.22b.com/cgi-bin/ultimateb...;f=34;t=003908

Kedlestone 6 speed is from £1400 and STi short engine is around £800 and this without the labour and at the end you will need more than this...

Thanks jura, it's going to be very much a work in progress but want to get figures together so at least I have an idea. Aiming towards it being a hill climb/track day car hopefully.

Hi there best will be contact few garages and ask about labour

And if you are looking for track day and hill climb,my suggestion will be classic, with new age you are around 200kg(maybe more) heavier.

Good luck with your project

Jura
