Default What to see/do in sheffield?

Hi, I am due to spend the 12th - 17th august in Sheffield. The bulk of the days will be taken up playing ice hockey. Just wondering if people knew of any good places to eat/drink etc. Any thing to do in the odd afternoon/evening we have free.

Mike

What you after???

As above there is Centretainment, its 10mins walk from Ice Sheffield.

The Peak distirct is awesome if you've never been

Also for meals out in the city centre there is Leopold Square...plenty of different dining options...and within 5min walk of the trams

West street in the city if you just want to get pissed as a fart with the student types..

If you want a curry Bulters or Shapla are a must

If you want real ales, Devenshire Cat, Hennery’s or Sheffield Tap (in the train station).

there is some stuff to see around Kelham Island.

Plenty of stuff to do, just depends on what bests suits you really.

Nip over to Ladybower reservoir, and up from there to the Derwent dam, where they filmed the dambusters.

Pretty impressive

I'll second that, some great walks and you can also hire bikes there and go for a bike ride if that floats your boat. There is loads of info at the vistors center.

...if you're into MTB'ing they are also some awesome MTB routes in the peaks

Also Castleton there are a few show caves.

Some great roads in the Peaks as well if you just want to go for a drive...I can recommend a few pubs for good food

I don't work for Sheffield tourist board BTW

What's happening at Ice Sheffield over those dates? My father-in-law spends his weekends there watching the Scimitars.
Will you be up on your own or with family/friends? What interests do you have? The more we know, the more we can suggest.

The Fat Cat was ramned the last time I was up there, so went to the Kelham Island Tavern and a couple of very good pints.

You're not too far from The Milestone which does good food (it is a gastro-pub though, so not cheap pub grub).

Go for some scenic drives in the country. Lots to see if you look for it and the scenery is well worth it.
