Default Rattle for about a second when starting

Hi all,

I have an MY00 UK Turbo and for about the last week have had a rattle every time I start the engine for about a second or two.

Everything else seems fine, just wondered if this is a known problem or if anyone else has had it?

Any help appreciated.

Paul.

Cheers for the reply, it seems odd that it's every time it starts for the same amount of time and then at no other time?

Makes me think it must be something specific to starting the engine, but not sure what it could be?

Does the rattle stop as soon as the oil light goes out?

No, just tried it, oil light goes out instantly, but rattle goes on about a second after that.

My blob does that, pretty sure it's the starter, been like it for ages, never caused a problem.

Hmmm, could be, but everything is normal when it's turning over, it's just for the first second that the engine is running. Not sure if the starter motor does anything at that point?

Mine is exactly the same, fine when turning over, but makes a rattle just after the engine starts running, more common when engine is cold.

Oh well, doesn't sound too serious, I'll get it checked at the next service.

Thanks for the replies.
