Default Engine advise pls

Been looking for an engine for a 52 bug eye , been saving so Api can rebuild mine but have been wondering if an earlier engine will fit as have found a decent engine from a 97wrx at a reasonable price , ?? Have been told all u have to change is inlet and cam pulleys ?

sorry but thats wrong, the inlet/head port arrangement on the 99> cars is totally different to the earlier cars and therefore none of your ancillaries would fit

Ok thank you for the quick response ! Best keep saving ! Got £1200 saved now but really just want it back on the road !

You are better off saving for a rebuild if your budget can stretch, you can't go wrong with an API rebuild.

Lost compression found valves to be burnt out ! Also whilst stripping found turbo to be gone ! And clutch is dead ! Machine work for heads for both to be re conditioned is £350 then plus all parts to put back together would be over £1200 for engine plus a turbo , so Api wants
£1200 to £1400 + vat to rebuild , I don't know the history on the car so thought Api would be the safest bet

Got £1200 saved now so just saving as much as I can week by week and David at Api seems a top bloke .

I take it you stripped it before it been to api then ?? Is that 1400 plus vat for sort heads gaskets , turbo , clutch , fluids , cambelt ?? put it back in car ???
