Default Toast sandwich is UK's 'cheapest meal'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15752918

The society is so confident in the repast, it will offer £200 to anyone who can create a cheaper alternative.
2 slices of bread = 160 calories
20g of butter = 180 calories

Daft cu*nts.

MAy not be healthy but when I was a student we used to be so hard up that the two top sandwiches were :

Two slices of bread, butter and white sugar

or if we were feeling flush

Two slices of bread, butter, sugar and chocolate rice sprinkles

Same here, bread and butter with the crusts off, was a staple diet for me for years. Might try the sugar option, who cares about teeth anyway

Tesco Value 8p noodles were the absolute limit for us.

Doesn't beat 7.5p though

lol, surely if the toast was fried in beef dripping, that'd be at least a tastier sandwich!

But have they factored in the cost of the electricity to toast the bread that you put in your sarny?

It seems to me that

2 Slices of buttered bread would be cheaper than 2 slices of buttered bread and a slice of toasted bread. By leaving out the 3rd slice of bread and the electricity to toast it in the first place the price should be cheaper plus you will get more sandwiches out of a loaf by using 2 slices rather than 3 each time.

Why not just get 2 slices of bread and toast them, and put the two toasted slices together to make a sandwich.

Really don't see the sense in toasting one slice of bread and then using 2 slices of untoasted bread to cover the one slice of toasted bread.

That isnt a Sandwich, its three rounds of bread, one of which has been toasted, its a crap idea, toasting it doesnt change it into a slice of ham or some Jam, its just more bread but toasting one slice doesnt turn it into a sandwich !

Some toasting facts

The most amount of toast i have eaten in one session is 13 slices.
I have the toaster set at number 3.
I hate burnt toast, unless i have it with beans then i don't mind a bit of burning.
I usually like my toast that golden brown colour.
I like thick toasted bread non of your thinly sliced crap..
And a big mug of Tea or Coffee.
