Default Why is it?

Whenever the Tories are in power unemployment rockets up and the whole country is in a dark place?

I have a theory - the Posh **** want some kind of power over the people, they want the workforce under control, they want them desperate for a job ... so desperate that they will work for nothing.

Am I right? Or is it just that Old Etonians haven't a clue .... born, as they are, with a silver spoon in their mouths and the money of Mummy and Daddy?

The country was in a terrible state when the Tories lib came to power. Given that the Tories then had to start cutting costs to dig this country out of the mess left by labour. To cap it off the euro zone is about to collapse soon! The UK. Would be in a much worse position had labour won the last election

The unemployment rate of 8.3% is the highest since 1996 - TORIES in Power.

The total number of unemployed people the highest since 1994 - TORIES in Power.

Just been looking at some alarming figures:-

July 1985..Tories in power...3,139,000 unemployed

July 1995 Tories in power...2,439,000

July 2005 Labour in power...1,423,000

July 2011 Tories and Lib Dems in power...2,566,000 unemployed.

Seems to me that the only way to get people back to work is with Labour in Government.

2015 is the earliest things can change - what will the figure be by then?

Country would have dipped into deep recession even if Labour were still labouring. So far Tories are concerned, they would have still blamed Labour for it whether they rose to power or crouched in the lower side of the hills. Therefore, neither Tory nor Labour or any other wannabe "leader" party or their bumchums are worth wasting any time on, even to blame the-this or the-that. They are all bad as each other. Just bang their heads together, job done.

By the way, anyone jumping up and down on their mummy and daddy's name, fame and money is pathetic. This may mean most Tories, quite a few LDs and Ls etc. etc. Hilarious, the lot of them.

Point one: the number of unemployed was NEARLY 2.5 million under Lying Labour. No matter HOW many fell by the wayside, the figurte weas always, "just under 2.5 million". Strange, that, eh? Clue: "LYING Labour".
The youth unemployment was already a worry under Lying Labour.

Point two: if it weren't for the jobs now being done by the flood of immigrants your lot let in in order to try out some sort of social experiment, things would be a LOT better for those seeking employment.

Point three: The fact that the above group will work for next to nowt, and live ten to a house did not escape the LABOUR minister of employment when he said, "At least they are keeping wages down!"
A FINE sentiment for a so-called socialist minister.

I remember the 3 million mark around '85 , i was one of them , this was a time when heavy industry was being done away with/sold , The whole mood very much bleaker

But now we have the even more worrying sceptre being dragged down by the rest of europe .

i think we're doing pretty well considering

No, the only way to find a sham employment to massage the numbers is under Labour

You should realise that the Tories always had to spend ages rebuilding economies, Labour inherited a sound economy, and destroyed it with over borring to fund pet minority programs.

Labour are retards.

When sold at 1999 levels Gordon Brown got £2.3bn for 400 tons of gold. Today he would have got £12.95bn

Then man much hailed by delusional halfwits as Labours economic giant.

FPMSL - If it wasn't such a disaster !

My mate sold his Red E Type V12 Convertible in 1977 for £1800 ..... if he had hung onto it until the mid 1980's he could have got well over £100,000 - today he could get £25,000.

You are trying to make a point based on the wonder of hindsight - which always makes one look rather dim.

To my credit I did predict Labour would make a **** of it (AGAIN) .

Mind you - even the most retarded of retards could have predicted that so my "Dim" score wont be increasing

The UK gross contribution to the EU is between 10 and 12 billion this year, from an estimated uk budget of 710 billion. That is 1.6% of government spending.
(The net figure will be even less)

Why does everyone blame the EU for everything?

It is so simple Pete.

Your bunch of self seeking and useless heroes borrowed and borrowed and managed to destroy the strong economy that they inherited from the Conservatives within two years! They continued with the overborrowing in order to create an enormous beaurocracy which employed so many people in non jobs and which effectively bought them the votes to stay in power. They did nothing to improve the country's GDP so built up a horrific national debt as well as allowing uncontrolled immigration all of which dragged this country down thus making it impossible to withstand the effects of the recession brought about by the greedy bankers who were allowed free reign by your useless friends and went ahead making piles of cash at the expense of this country! We now have a national debt of nearly £1 trillion and have to keep borrowing to pay the interest. All their efforts were devoted to maintaining their own power without a thought for the people of this country and the future of course. Our present leader admires Billy Liar's efforts in getting elected 3 times and would love to emulate him!

We are now left with a useless coalition with a weak pair of leaders who also have no regard for the people and also are working to maintain power. The leaders are Europhiles for their own selfish reasons despite the wishes of the people of this country. They are also unfortunate in inheriting the financial mess which was left by the previous bunch of drongo's.

We will unfortunately remain in such a parlous position unless a miracle occurs and new politicians appear who have an honest regard for this country like the Attlee government just after WW2 and Conservative governments which followed.

I would really like to see your honest take on the above!

Your witterings about class distinction etc. are totally non effective.

You continue to imply that the Tories have run the economy well, there is no historical justification for this claim. They are just as bad, and if you take into account the delivery of public services, in many ways they are worse.

You are right of course, Labour did inherit a sound economic platform, but that is only part of the story. You very conveniently didn't mention (yet a again) why our economy was on the up at that point.

We were recovering from the economic catastophy that was ERM, it lead to, until recent times, record levels of borrowing, interest rates in double figures, a crash in the housing market and huge repossessions, and of course a terrible resession.

So if you are going to mention how great our economic outlook was in 97, let's not forget why and how. Let's also remember it took the Tories 13 years to even get close to be seen as competent in economic matters again.

I have a theory. 1979 - country in a bad way after several years of Labour mismanagement, takes 5-6 years of Tory government to sort out the mess. 2010 - country in a very bad way after 13 years of NuLabour mismanagement, it will take several years of Tory government to sort out the mess.

There's an important difference between your analogy of your mate's E-Type V12 and what Brown did with gold.

Before Brown sold the gold he announced that he was going to sell it. Buyers then knew that a whole load of gold was about to hit the market and so the price was devalued. So not only did he sell at a time of low prices, he deflated the market by announcing what he was going to do.

D'oh! And some people hail him as an economic genius.........

pete you do need help . if you think gordon brown was anything but a ******
. may i recomend going to a good book shop and asking for a copy of
GORDON IS A MORON by vernom coleman read it you will be enlightened as to how the donkey and his mates think and still do . the book touches on all aspects of his political life . and lists all the social experiments and forced intergration of society that we all know has been a EPIC FAIL , a example that is in the book is just epic .
under labour a single mum on benefits with 2 kids was just £4 a week worse off than a married couple with 2 kinds earning £24grand a year ,
