STI05V, you cant gain any power by just fitting a FMIC
but it can be good for extra 20bhp with a mappable ECU or boost controller

*ahem*

Yes you will and, altho my car is not a Scooby (turbo car is turbo car), I have the proof in black and white (well multi-coloured actually )

My Standard Car - 204BHP, 218lb/ft

My Standard Car with Front Mounted Intercooler - 239BHP, 243lb/ft

Another point to note is I ran slightly less boost with the intercooler (0.7bar overboost and 0.5bar normal) than I did with the standard car (0.8bar overboost and 0.6 bar normal)

It might not be a Subaru but the Subaru will work the same way

Richie is correct, the FMIC will reduce charge temperatures, this increases charge density and therefore more air flows into the engine at the same/less boost.

And even better, doing it on a Scoob means your intercooler will finally be cooled by the dyno's fan...you'll definitely see an increase on the rollers

Yeh I thought that RR'd FMIC's get a very optomistic increase because of the tech... all you need is a wind tunnel too

Got 40 bhp out of fitting my FMIC, but that was with new larger injectors and a remap at the same time.

Sorry i made a mistake and got it wrong - I was only going by what I was told and I didn't notice any difference when I fitted my FMIC. (But I didn't take my car on RR)

Richie 1, Good result! but can you really compare your results as one was in may and the other in November Was it not colder for the second run?

Cossie Convert, can u explain to me how the air flow is more at the same level of boost (this has been explained to me before but I didn't really understand) eg. say I was running 1 bar boost and fitted a FMIC are you saying I'd be flowing more air in but still only showing 1 bar boost?

Stuart, Did you fit FMIC, injectors and remap all at the same time or in stages. If at different times did you notice any diference after the FMIC was fitted?

Mike,

The FMIC was fitted at the same time as moving from 380 to 440 injectors. Ran like a complete pig until it was remapped. Then we noticed that the injector duty cycle was still above 95% so changed to 550's and remapped again. The 40 bhp gain was with FMIC, injectors and remap together, couldn'y get any figures for just FMIC, as injectors were done at the same time

Mike

The FMIC cools the air more than a TMIC. Air gets denser as it gets cooler therefore more air will flow at the same pressure.
The cooler air will also allow the production of more power before the timing is redarded by knock.
