Unhappy Changed to 18's, now it handles like a boat

Changed from my 17" Oz superleggera's to 18" WR1's recently and took the car out last night for a drive to Notts.

Its all over the place! Feels really really light and unstable at speed. I had Falken Ziex 912's on my 17's but they are some cheapy directional tyres on these 18's and scare the crap out of me.

Definately need to sort them out, and get it on coilovers I reckon. Its proberbly not helping that I have sti red front shocks and standard bouncy rears but I took it to the Nurburgring earlier in the year with the 17's and same set up on and it was fine like that.

Looks like I have more spending to do, sigh..........

It's amazing the difference in size and nasty tyres make to a car, my 330i had some cheap tyres on it when I bought it, the thing was a nightmare to drive, put four P Zero rossos on it and what a change! the car is a pleasure to drive now...

Sounds like theres alot that could be causing your issues! carp tyres would be the first place to start!

But personally, 17's are the only way to go with a scoob! On track even on the legacy which is bigger and slightly heavyer, the advantage of 17's over 18's is massive!

definitely the tyres mate, 18's work well on a newage, 17's on a classic

A long time ago when Mike Wood from Prodrive used to post on here the same question arose. Mike suggested that Prodrive had done some work with 18" wheels on the newage and 18" were recommended by Mike Wood. (as post number 4)
