ABU Crew Make Yourselves Known
#2
I wouldn't exactly class myself as ABU, but its a laugh winding up die hard supporters when they get beaten. (I think last night needs to be classified as being beaten ) I don't support any team. It will have no influence on me or my life if they win or lose, so I can't see the point really. Supporting teams in team sports seems to be for people who are not as sucessful as they wish, and find the need to attach their allegiances to a group of sucessful people to make themselves feel better. Obviously this is not the case where there are family and friends or finances involved, but the thousands of people who claim to support Man U without having any ties to the club or the players and who have never been to Manchester, never mind watched a game really confuse me.

Because you are the most lucky team ever, fluke results that you dont deserve, youre players are arrogant and spoilt brats ( look at butt & scholes - always look like they are about to burst into tears ! )

Seejay - I apply the theory to all football 'supporters', which is why I said 'I wouldn't exactly class myself as ABU' and 'Supporting teams in team sports seems to be for people who are not as sucessful as they wish' Manchester was given as a relevant example in this thread.

Typical, cant stand success, will you all hate Arsenal next season if they win the double, as for armchair, season ticket for the last 16 years lads.
Try getting a life, oh Kippax I will thank you up front for the 6 points you will GIVE us next season.

I presume your team are less 'lucky' than MU, I remember a footballer who had been descriced as being lucky with his goal scoring - his retort was "Yes I am lucky and it's funny but the more I practice the luckier I get"
Sour grapes anyone

Kippax - I don't know your circumstances, so you are entirely correct. However, it appears from this thread that you support any team but united. Surely you cannot have family or financial ties to every team who might play them, along with the associated box of season tickets, which puts you in the same boat as the guys who support a team becasue they are winning

I hate ALL armchair fans regardless of what team they support. They claim to be loyal fans yet only discovered football after Euro 96 when "football came home" I work with several armchair fans (united, liverpool, city, burnley, bury, boro amongst others) and they get slaughtered when trying to discuss football with other match going fans. I have no problems having banter with proper fans - even scousers and blues
I can understand the hatred towards united from blues, scousers, and leeds because of the history between us but most ABUs have no genuine reason for hating us - they've just jumped on the bandwagon hence the "stand up if hate man u" song being so popular at grounds across the country.
MUFC - loved by many, hated by many more

Fastbloke - Another good point and I accept when United are playing, by default I support the opposition. This is because I am a City fan from Manchester and we have this thing called rivalry.

I'm with alexf on this one,
Rivalry is one thing, ABUism another. I'll gladly debate football with other committed fans who genuinely support and follow their own team.
Hating (and supporting, for that matter)another team just coz everyone else does is sad.

seejay - for once I agree with you
We all have a bit of light hearted banter with each other on here, but 'hate' certainly never comes into it.
I for one quite enjoy it
