Default PORTED HEADERS: Will they make any difference to my car ???

My car: V2 STI 96 TD05H 16g Turbo with following mods:

- Fully decatted exhaust
- Major_Sarcasm CHIP
- Induction Kit
- walbro 255
- uprated Exedy Clutch kit and 6kgs flywheel (fitted a week ago)
- NGK PFR7B spark plugs

I was told by mechanic while fitting the clutch, that my uppipe got a little crack/is leaking.
Guys, could you tell me please, would I get any benefits by fitting HARVEYs ported headers with matching uppipe ? Will I feel any difference? Asking because I was told today (by another Subaru enthusiast) that at this stage it would be waste of money. He said that it would make a difference only if I'll go for bigger turbo and bigger injectors.
What do you think ???

Thank You

you will feel some difference but to get the most you would be better getting a remap to get the most out of them.

So, it is not really worth it to go for headers now ? Should I change the uppipe now and wait with headers till remap, right?

My pockets are deep buy EMPTY at the moment :-) I've got another baby on the way so... Scoob must wait :-( Anyway I'll need a new ECU because my current one 6K, it's NOT mappable so to reach 340bhp I'll need a lot of parts and a LOT of money to get them.
Does somebody got spare 1.5k ??? :-)

Hmmm that would be nice :-) But as I said I've got other, MUCH more important things on my head at the moment. I have to admit that £780 ish it's a bargain. By the way, I thought that 6K is the best ECU for Classic, but don't really matter with ESL right?

Utter bollocks. To say you need a bigger turbo is utter rubbish. Plenty people with TD04s have fitted ported headers and matched uppipe and found a noticable difference. You don't get a smaller turbo than a TD04 on a WRX/UK 2000.
I have been doing this for a number of years and we have never fitted a set of ported headers and matched uppipe to anybody's car as far as I know that has not felt definate benefits. More willing, more responsive, better pickup, more mid range torque and less asthmatic top end.

Your friend giving you this duff advice obviously has no first hand experience of my ported headers and matched uppipes.
You will feel a benefit without a remap but for best results you need a remap as more fuel will need to be added in particular areas where the breathing has been greatly improved. Any mappers regularly mapping cars with my headers can confirm this.
Either way you need a new uppipe. Stainless steel, slip jointed, purpose designed, DEI heat wrapped, five new Subaru studs £139 plus £12.50 delivery or we fit for a fixed £75.

The product I use all the time comes from Wurth UK and bought in bulk the price is OK but one off tins are expensive. It seems to be good stuff and it certainly smells OK but I cannot honestly say it is any better than steeping something in a bit of diesel or parafin. The fact it is in an aerosol and can be squirted where you want it is a benefit I suppose but now you have set me thinking I should get an aerosol bottle and a container of parafin and save a few pounds a year.
