I have a 3incher, I mean cat back system
how can I tell if its stainless or mild steel?

 

Any pictures would help lad?

 

From memory(so probably wrong) a magnet will not be attracted to stainless whereas it will be to mild steel. The more attracted it is, the lower grade the steel.

I'll confirm with the father-in-law tonight who I heard this from - he works at an exhaust r&d place.

 

Depending on a age, rust or lack of for a good quality stainless .

 

Upto 3 years old, no rust apart from where its bolted together. I cant add pics til tomo. Its on ebay. Its a browny colour
