Thumbs up

Yes, the car you are thinking of is the type RA v-ltd (limited to 555 made)which came with a circular badge on the boot marking the first victory in the WRC in 1995. This model came out early in 1996 I think. I have one myself, which is # 48 of the 555 made.
Brief spec is 280 bhp closed deck engine, all the sti bits inc alloy bonnet, alloy wishbones, exhaust system, quick shift plus type RA spec: lightened glass, wind-up windows, centre electronic diff, LSD's, water injection, roof vent. Plus mine has as standard the ultra high geared larger rear diff unit and close ratio gearbox (results in poor fuel economy unfortunately). The v-ltd bit means the car has the embroidered signature seats Colin McCrae and his co-driver on their respective seat backs which is nice! Internally the car also has Nardi steering wheel and gearknob. The colour of my car is the dark blue of Subaru's 1995 team cars I believe. I recently had my car in to Graham Goode's for the wheels to be refurbed and their foreman told me that my car was the only one that he'd ever seen with the most unusual little devices on the rear brakes: factory fitted stone scaper things to stop rocks from jamming in the rear wheels! This points to the fact that back then Subaru were releasing a road version with quite a lot of the original rally car in it (by today's standards anyway). Since I have had the car I have added some "blue-white" headlamp bulbs (which are the best £13.99 I have ever spent in my life!) plus a K&N filter.

The type RA has no ABS either, nor central locking to save weight.

dont assume it has a closed deck block.

The only car we know which seems to have a closed deck 100% of the time is the 22b!

have seen an sti type ra v limited engine split in half, it was an open deck .

Actually, it's based on the STi2 & it therefore has 275ps.
I think someone imported one of them into Malaysia & they have to strip away the decals as it's not allowed there.
The decals used to be available as an accessory from STi Japan.
A Sainz version is also available

look at http://sti.catherineandken.com

I can say that when my engine was replaced, it didn't have STI pistons in it.

Also mine has electric windows and central locking (Think it was an option)
