Default How to get 300 BHP from my 2004 WRX ....

Afternoon folks,

I'm after some advice. I am trying to get 300 BHP from my 2004 WRX. I am currently around 285 BHP and was wondering what other parts I need. I know that my turbo needs replacing but what would you recommend , considering I am trying to do this to a budget ? Okay here's my current setup:

Green panel filter.
Sports-cat downpipe.
De-cat upipe.
De-cat front / centre section.
Vortex afterburner backbox.
Uprated fuel pump.
NGK plugs.
STI TMIC
Remap by Andrew C

Will I see 300 BHP on my standard injectors or do I need the STI pinks ?

Do I need a 3 port boost solenoid and are these plug and play ?

As mentioned, what's the best turbo to go for ? A VF ??

Really appreciate any advice and comments

Cheers, Wilky.

Andrew will tell you mate, and Brian probably has parts in stock to get you there. The standard injectors will (just) make the 300, but you might awell go for pinks as they are cheap at the moment.

A VF35 is probably the cheapest option for you

3 Port, again for the money its not worth not doing.

Whats the Decat Uppipe?

I thought my WRX had a CAT in the turbo up-pipe. Andrew recommended changing it for a STI part prior to him mapping it .. I'm pretty new to modding my Subaru so does that make any sense ?

Cheers for the advice mate,

Wilky.

Aye, the blobeyes had a cat in the uppipe, it was worth having it removed. If you're having the turbo out anyway it would be worth talking to harvey on here about his ported headers and upipe, will give you better spool characteristics than the standard units

HI Wilky_Boy.

My mate has just come back from a remap with bob rawle. must add TOP BLOKE..
his spec is nearly the same as your's just that i fitted a set of sti pink injectors, and swapped turbo for vf28, done parallel fuel mod and stainless manifold, and yes there is a cat in uppipe, remove it,

his made 343 bhp.

hope this helps cheers scoobymike

Cheers for the advice mate,

Your right mate, I was just making sure you didnt fit an ebay special 2" flexi up pipe as they are pap. The STI ones are good for your level, I think they are 42mm .

You'll get plenty advice on here mate, and as for the turbo you could consider plenty, but bang for buck I have to say either a genuine TD05 16G or a VF35, again I cant stress that you must keep away from ebay unless the seller is genuine.

As for other VF serires Turbo's, here is a list . But please ask on here if the turbo is suitable for you or not, large turbo's will be to laggy for your requirements.

PS, Pm this seller, as this will have a VF30 Turbo which would be ideal too, should be looking at £200 - £300 depending on condition and mileage. https://www.scoobynet.com/subaru-par...plete-car.html

If you are only looking at 300 bhp a little extra fuel pressure and turbo would be enough and could work a little out cheaper than changing the injectors.

Wont the TD04 be running out of puff, and also be running at 100% to get to 300?

Also wouldnt pinks work out about the same price over a decent FPR give or take a few quid? Pinks would see him right for the future too should he hunt for a little more power.

You can pick up TD05's for about £150 - £200, just need to be converted to front entry, or if not you can get the compressor housing convertion at about £90 i think.

Think they are good for about 330-340bhp, maybe corrected on that.

Sorry meant replace the turbo in the above, just a little wary myself of used injectors so would pay to have them checked and adds to the cost

For 312.1 on my 05WRX

Milltek 3" decat
VF35
Wrapped decatted up pipe
STI pinks
Walbro fuel pump
K&N panel filter
Paul Blamire remap

Blob intercooler is fine if you're looking at 300bhp
