sound deadening under bonnet?

i presume its sound deadening stuck on under the bonnet? if so any negatives from removing it, one on the car has become quite tacky and falling apart so thinking of just removing it?

I'm fairly sure it's there for heat purposes not noise buddy. Mine is all removed any how.

i was thinking about heat issues but surely the only thing it would do is keep heat in the engine area which is not a good thing? unless its there to protect the paint on the underneath of the bonnet?
