Default Newage front seats replacement?

How many of you have changed the front seats in a newage sti?

Reason being, i removed the passeneger front to weigh and see if it would be beneficial in replacing to save a great deal of weight. To my suprise, popping it on the scale with the rails still attached, it came up at 17.2 kg! I had been told they were just shy of 25 kg! i've been eyeing up some new seats (OMP Champ's) weighing in at 8.9kg each, but with the added subframe and side mounts i'd imagine it'll be a lot closer to 12-13kg.

surely the £350 for seat, subframe and mounts wouldn't be worth saving 4kg unless the car was stripped to the bones?

Open for debate and would love to hear a few opinions on this

(p.s i know the driver seat will be slightly heavier... may even weigh that too just to check)

I was looking at it on my 05 STi.

Cobra Daytona and Cobra Subframe weighs a couple of KG more than the standard seat / frame
I lost a bit of interest at that point.

So i now have 2 Brand new Cobra Daytona in Blue but not keen to put them in !

Driver's side has height adjustment... so weighs more.

Matt-c: do you still have those seats?

Jura11: do you know how much weight you have saved with both seats or on either side?

Dunx: thought so, but thinkin it'll look a bit odd changing my drivers side one and leaving passenger one standard

Hi there don't know but OEM WRX Seats are very heavy, but Pro ADV have weight 11kg without rails,Sparco Evo have weight around 8kg without rails...
Rails we are using are Buddy Club.

i wouldnt worry about the few kg's. it's gonna be lighter anyway. the more important thing is that the car feels so much better to drive with a proper seat.
