Cool

Hi folks. I'm new to scoobynet but can already see it's a cool forum. Although I am not a Subaru owner, I am the owner of a flat four. I've got a '75 Beetle with the dinosaur air-cooled VW flat 4 and want to give bring it up to 21st century performance with a 2L Subaru turbo engine. Power wise, I am looking for around 300BHP and a WRX turbo STI lump would fit the bill nicely but I am sure it would be difficult and expensive to find one. I love the sound of the WRX wngine and really, really want one. Anybody got any advice on where to get one, the cost and the tuning potential of one of the most awesome engines ever produced?

Before anyone asks, yes I would love to have a WRX but can't afford it right now so I'll make do with what I've got.

Cheers.

You could try one of the breakers?

Grade A Subaru
Midland Impreza

or

Town End Garage

Town End are advertising engines for about 1300-1700 quid (I think )

I did a search on google. Used the words "Subaru engine" beetle. There was a german blokes site (he's looking at doing it) which had a link on to a site. The car in the pics is in Australia.

Hope that helps

Guy

a guy posted a couple of months back about this, in the DriveTrain forum I think. From what I remember he was based in Scotland, and quite a good way through the conversion by the nature of the questions he asked.

I would take a look at the SIDC FAQ page, to get a lowdown on the many different engine specs available.
