version 4 jdm crank and block oil flow ?
is there any way to make the oil flow better with a the version 4 crank and block i.e drilling the crank or maybe some sort of block work as im running 400bhp my block is being strip down for new gasskett and replacing the acl bearings and im never going to run more then 400-420bhp it running 390 at the mo ish or is it a case of buying a version 9 crank and if so how much work will go into machining the block to take this and will my exsiting wossner rods and piston work you thoughs please all the engine builders out there cheers
im using keeping the block as the block as the open deck can take that as alan j has proven with a 500 bhp plus im just taking my apart to do the heads and and i may has well replace the bearings why i have it out but im just tying o gauage if 1 i need to make more oil flow or not and if so the best way of doing it with what i have as my engine was firged two years ago and im having some poarst renewed

and id still look at a stronger block. if it did work, good. but id still lok into a stronger setup
but as i say the block is fine as im running 390 bhp at the mo and probally not go any more as ive ben happy with it it just the aboe i need answer to ie crank drilling blcok work or just leave it as it is a fit my new bearings and gasketts
the thing is, if you enlarge the holes, your oil pump may need to be changed to a bigger capacity.
but would also say, you'd need to also enlarge the block oil feeds.
but as you say, you'll be changing the shells ect.
The weakest point in the scooby lumps is the lack of bearing surface area they have. My suggestion would be to use an increased bearing to crank clearance and run a higher flow oil pump. This tends to work very well on higher output engines.
