My worst fears?
Hi
I couldn't find a replacement TY752VWAAA box (manual; non-turbo 1.8 litre) so garage fitted TY752VWBAA today. They assured me that ratio was same.
My son (200 miles away from me) has picked up car and says when accelerating, it "gets sluggish" and about 2500 rpm and is much worse performance than with old box. No other symptoms noticed, but he doesn't think car is driveable as is.
Does this sound like centre diff problem due to incorrect ratio of new box? Or maybe the clutch slipping? - tho he hasn't smelled anything untoward.
Thanks from an unhappy billpayer (although I've not yet transferred funds)!
ps: since this posting, car has been driven 10 km at no more than 60 km/h and he now reckons sluggish through whole acceleration range. Would centre diff have blown up by now if wrong?
