Don't suppose anyone else has ever had this problem have they?

There's "something" coming through the right hand headlight, between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the bumper. It only seems to be when the car is idling. I'm not sure if its steam (doesn't sound like it), smoke (doesn't smell like it) or what. Its more like fog, drifting out from between the light and bumper.

Only happens on the right hand side of the car. I've never noticed it when driving, only when I get out of the car to open the garage and put it away. And it only seems to happen when its very cold.

If it looks like white steam it could be a coolant leak dripping/spraying onto the hot engine or manifold.I had the same & the radiator top hose was replaced.Only did it when the engine was hot & running. i.e. coolant system under pressure.

 

Fog and steam are the same thing, visible vapour.

Hold something metal and very cold in it, if it gets covered in condensation, hwat you are seeing is steam/vapour.

Could be from any number of sources, the headers are under the front of the engine there and can give off steam when damp, the lights themselves get warm enough to do so, etc.

If it doesn't smell, I really wouldn't worry, but keep an eye on oil and coolant levels just in case.

 

Probably just moisture from when previously driven and cooled off and then burning off when driven again,i wouldn't woory unless its huge amounts or there when warmer temps are around mate

I'll keep an eye out on the coolant and oils and see what happens from there. I did notice some moisture above the lights, and the lights themselves were very warm. We'll see what happens!

Not much help but my05sti does this as well seems to come from o/s front wheel arch only noticed it now the weather is cold
