Question Haywood & Scott Exhaust - What do you think?

Morning all,

Would just like to see what people think about the Haywood & Scott exhausts?

I currently have a STI prodrive exhaust on my car which Im looking to change as its very quiet and can hardly be heard!

Wanna be able to hear the lovely sound of the subaru's, but not have it to lould so thinking about changing the back box only. Would I need to change the centre pipe too??

Good quality and fit generally. I've got a 3" fully decatted H&S and never had a problem. Had afterburner vortex before and again all was good

Hayward & Snot, dont like them at all.
Too heavy, too loud, crap welds.

Your car, your call.

i've got them on both of my imprezas and most people say its sounds one of the best exhausts they've heard. not to loud that you look like a corsa with lexus lights and not so quiet you can't hear it. haven't had any problems with the welds or build quality at all either, i've seen a lot worse so called superior exhausts.

Fantastic quality. Got their stuff from scoobyworld, from turbo to centre section and I'm very happy

I had a Hayward and Scott BB on my WRX for 4 years and the main structure was fine. However the tailpipe did tarnish quite quickly. Loved the sound.

Question

Right well blacky is all booked in for a new exhaust on Saturday

Its gonna be 4.5" (seemed small to me, but didnt say anything)

Anyways gonna change the back box first and see what i think then maybe change the pipe.

I hope it will give me the subaru rumble so I can be heard driving along and be ready for tunnel run!!

Had H&S on my first scoob. I loved it. Loud when playing and quiet enough otherwise. Always able to hear the beautiful burble! Enjoy!!

I have a full H&S 3" system on my classic, I phoned them up and told them what I needed as it needed to conform to my TÜV paperwork and they made it for me no question. Sports cat downpipe, resonated centre pipe and the custom made backbox to match my dimensions. Can't fault it or them.

Had a H&S turbo back de-cat system on my old Classic, subtle when you wanted it to be but my God did it sound good at full chat, in tunnels, etc. I miss it so much

H&S said they also custom build exhausts for only a little extra so you can get just th right sound.

I have a H&S decat straight through to a Prodrive back box and it sounds like rumbling thunder
I recon you could of got away with just changing the resonated section

Which model / year Impreza do you have Helen? I've got a 2006 "hawkeye" and I too had the Prodrive backbox and other bits. I have the Prodrive performance pack so didn't want to get rid of the Prodrive parts (so I have them on when I sell it in future). However I did want more of that burble. So I got Hayward and Scott to replace the centre section with a straight through 2.5" section (thereby removing the centre resonator) and it sounds perfect now. And all for £100 or just over. They are very highly recommended and one of the best exhausts out there fitted to very expensive performance cars. When I was there they were fitting one to a Z4m coupe.

+1 keep your Prodrive bb they look genuine to keep the car looking standard which is a good thing in my book, just go for the de-resonated section.

I know this isan old thread. Do you have a photo of the rear of your car showing what the straight exit back box looks like? I have seen the rolled tip but never the larger 4.5" slash cut tip which I assume is similar to http://www.haywardandscott.com/subar...t-backbox.html I also have the Prodrive backbox and Im beginning to think it is just too quiet and I only really hear the "burble" when over 3k revs and even then the burble is not distinct enough so I may go down your route. No worries if you dont have a pic. Does anyone else have one? Is it defening or just right? Does anyone have a pic of it on a newage so I can get idea of what it looks like on my hawkeye. Thanks and sorry for hijacking this thread

Thanks for posting the pic. The size of it looks good. Is it a 4.5" tip?
