Question

Is there a workshop manual available somewhere? I'm looking for some books which can tell me everything about my car.. I have a MY99 and if anyone know anything about this, feel free to help me out ;-)

Haynes do not make one, but they do a book called "You & Your Impreza Turbo" or something which gives history etc. Certainly not a workshop manual though

I know that aswell ;-) But if it was possible to get hold of the original workshop manuals or something, i'm sure they would be a little more complete..

Chilton do one (try amazon) covering all subarus upto 1996 which is pretty good on the basics, esp for body work suspension etc... - It don't change that much - Very helpful , I don't know if there is a later version.

Cheers

Twinny,

I also have a MY99 Impreza (Type-R) and I have been searching for a workshop manual for about 9 months now. I have had no luck whatsoever, it really is the holy grail of workshop manuals. I've seen a website that sells complete sets of manuals for about £750, a bit OTT I think. If you do have any luck then let us know.

Happy hunting,

Craig.

Will do! although I'm not sure i'll ever find something. There is this guy here who want's to sell the complete set for £450, but that is a bit stiff for me as I only need the MY99 edition.

Mick,

How much doe's the MY96 car differ to the MY99 car? I own a MY99 Impreza, so would it be worthwhile getting the manual you showed above?

Cheers,

Craig.

I don't think I'm really qualified to answer that, I have a MY97 and most of the basic engine layout, ancillaries, interior trim etc are easily interpreted from the Chilton manual. Things like wiring diagrams may be more tricky but at least you get an idea as to what to look for. Also note that this manual applies to US spec vehicles from Justy to SVX, but basically the bits look familiar and show the Subaru way of doing things. Can't remember how much it cost now, £20 ish rings a bell

Cheers

Mick
