Default Gearbox crunch

MY 04 WRX crunches from 3rd to 4.,At low speed it is very slight but at high speed it is like a tractor selecting the gear and crunches,no other gears are a problem.

Also when you are just driving slow and put your foot on and off the gas the gear stick moves a bit more than I thought it should

Any ideas

you dont need a new box, it can be fixed for a reasonable price, but depends on how much you get a box for i suppose. worth pricing up though, plus you know your gearbox is good apart from the syncro....

I might be tempted to go for a better box if poss 6 speed with the drive train as this car is going to be a working progress

gearbox syncores mate, i had the same problem on my civic. when under hard accelration and then u change gear u get a crucnh. If it id then defo a syncore.

U are best to chnage your gearbox oil as it will make your gearbox last longer, or it will get worse. And keep of the hard gas mate.

Alternatively Can go for new performance syncroes

Default Gearbox Fault

Had a quote today for the following

Take gear box out and refit £300.00

Carry out works to the gear box ,approx £100.00 - £150.00 Min

Clutch if requred ( I think it would be better to do it as gear box out )
£100.00 - £150.00

so approx £500.00- £600.00 for it doing if it is a syncro to fit, would it be better to get a box or get the box done so I know it is done and not going to let go in the future...... as I am planning some power upgrades
