Default Another Enginetuner 2.1 story

This time with back to back figures from the same car, tuner and turbo.

The customers car arrived a little worse for wear after putting a rod through the block due to the shoddy build he had done cheaply elsewhere. Having a CDB in stock we set about building him our proven stroker with some RCM headers to boot. We also added a Bosch pump and swirl pot to ensure adequate fueling for when the big turbo route takes his fancy.

After carrying out our running in instructions to the letter, the car was delivered a week later and following another oil change was ready to run. The turbo fitted is a bit of an unknown quantity, but is suspected to be of 20G origin.
Mapped on Tesco 99 and running no more than 1.4 bar boost it achieved the following figures pre and post stroker.

What other changes were made?

Seems surprising to gain that much from just a rebuild. Were the heads altered in any way?

Previous motor must of had major oil blow by or poor valve sealing to make that much difference by just a bottom end freshen up.

All differences are mentioned above Frayz, the increase in stroke makes by far the biggest contribution to the differences low down, with the tubular headers producing most of the top end gains.

Ahh I thought it was 2.1 beforehand, but just a poor build.

Results make more sense now.

Is this standard across any good 2.1 build by a respectable engine builder like your good selves

It can make all the difference with a well set up engine, yes!
