Default Clutch pedal after cylinder change.

Right, I've just had my clutch master cylinder replaced by a "family mechanic"...not my side of the family btw.

The reason I let him loose on the car in the first place was because while stuck in traffic on the M25 last week, I depressed my clutch pedal, clutch worked as it should but the pedal remained on the floor causing me to lever it up by hand.

Now he kindly fitted a new master cylinder after finding it to be at fault, bled the system and according to him set the cluthch pedal up propperly??. However when I now depress the pedal it practically falls the first 3/4's of the way and then you fill it go past some kind of pre-tension point before it actually dis-engages the clutch on the last 1/4 of it's travel. He seemed quite proud of the fact it now does this

Also when I release the pedal it doesn't fully return to it's rest position.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this guy has done to my car???

Please help

it's a v4 sti btw

sounds like he hasnt bled the system right, the pedal should have tension virtualy from the top of the stroke and be disengaging the clutch around half way through the stroke maybe abit more, take it back and say your not happy mate.
