How long should a twin plate exedy clutch last in a classic Impreza turbo? 2,000miles in 2 years, never launch and dont drive it that hard. 450bhp power figures.

Only in 5th gear seems to slip, all others fine on 25psi boost.

Hummm, clutch or something else?

It will vary a great deal on driver style not necessarily the amount of hard use it may or may not see within a number of miles. Incorrect installation can also result in premature wear, rear main oil seal can also contaminate the clutch if it’s leaking resulting in slippage.

100% happy fitted correctly and no leaks from rear main. Anyone know the warranty period on one?

 

Mine lasted under 9 months, was completely worn out. Did 3 track days and numerous launches, seems I'm a "bad" driver

 

My cusco one (rebadged exedy) has done 35,000 miles so far, mixture of 3 time attack seasons, numerous track days, ring trips, 1/4 miles and road mileage.

Still loads of meat left on the friction plates.

 

As its two years old, how can I get it under warranty? Anyways around it?

 

My twin plate has just gone no slipping prior. Release bearing is shot. Garage trying to charge me £2500. The clutch has only done 9k max. No launches or major thrashing! 480bhp 455fb torque. I was assured these were fit and forget.
It was fitted with my engine build. Wondering about the warranty myself!

 

excedy will tell you they aint designed to last for a long time,,,, they also dont have any form of warranty also

they seem to have a issue with clutch drag making it hard to get into gears,,,,, sure thats also going to cause wear aswell

i decided against a twin plate as i dont do 1/4 mile and am a bit more gentle on transmission so just got a stage 1 organic

im sure excedy can reshoe your old clutch and they also sell all the friction plates seperate as well

 

Lateral performance have replacement parts for exedy twinplate. Sorted mine out today! Fraction of the cost of a new clutch. Turns out clutch release bearing came appart in two?!! How?? Also a plate slightly warped. No wear on clutch material tho.
Worth the trip!

One thing I think I forgot to say, and that's that you'll need to give the new pressure plates a chance to bed in. So take it a little easy for a few hundred miles.
