Thumbs down 18mpg... worse than I thought

did the first long distance journey in my scoob yesterday - exeter to japfest. Worked out it did on average 18mpg. o...m...g... I hate to imagine what it's doing for town driving!
On the plus side it did it in one tank comfortably.
For a 97 260hp is that good/bad/ok????

That's lousy, either you tow a caravan or it's faulty.

Id be pretty impressed if it were unless its a new hatch back version
Most scoobs will do mid to high teens with 280bhp, my type R does about, oh, 18mpg in town, 320bhp, my spec c did about 16-18mpg, you see most other new age cars getting 16mpg in town, 25, damn ive had 150bhp cars that couldnt do that and those ran well

Mine was on boost - comes on at 3k... was done that most of the way. Does that affect it hugely? (sorry only owned the scoob 1 month)

In town only you will be much lower, 180 to a tank, mixed will improve it (thats your 28mpg) and motorway will be higher, unlelss you do 56mph and that will be your 34

When I used to care I could get 25mpg. Couldn't tell you what I get since my remap as I haven't looked yet, but the throttle seems to go down further now

Martyn mapped Scott's 627 bhp 2.1 stroker and he got 35 mpg on the way back to Scotland!
It doesn't take much of a fault to make a car that runs pretty well otherwise drink the gas. You just have to check it out if it drinks like Gazza ..

Alan is right, even the smallest of faults like a slightly out coolent temp sensor can put the MPG right up and make it run rich

Last run out with the guys from LADS over to Hawes/Buttertubs with mixed driving in my 340 brake RA I got 100 miles to a full tank!!

I've just fitted a new lamba and a new water temp senser to try and improve things.
