Default F**king insurance companies

Just been getting quotes for my new first impreza and had settled on admiral as the best. Then I added on my recent non-fault accident thinking it wouldn't affect the price, they want another £366!
How can it be fair to penalise me for being crashed into? They same its because I'm now statistically more likely to have an accident because of it...

Anyways, was wondering what people would recommend insurer wise as otherwise this car is getting blaudy expensive

Have a look in the insurance section of this forum for companies to go to. A-plan, Keith Michaels, Adrian Flux and Sky Insurance are all good. They all bead Admiral and Direct line for me last week when I renewed.

Get quotes from all the comparison sites. When you get a good quote, make note of the reference number and call them. It works out cheaper to get quotes online than to phone.

Yes, that's pretty common, I'm afraid. It happened to my son when an old lady hit him head on and wrote off his STi a few years back. She was totally to blame and was prosecuted but he still got loaded with a 45% increase in premium, the next year! Having a protected NCB makes no difference!

With admiral be careful and double check the car details!

I did an internet quote (1995 wrx (import) ..) then the next day they rang me offering a run through the system to check prices. They ended up sorting my insurance for a 1995 wrx import. 20 minutes later i get a call from them asking if im interested in a multicar quote. He tells me my car is on the system as a "1995 wrx UK car"!!!!! Coz those exist and bear in mind i was run through the whole quote by an operator and i stressed that it was an import.

He told me they would get back to me after they listened in on the phone call. Called me the day after to tell me "we are cancelling your policy, but as an apology for our mistake we've given you the 24hours of cover for free"

Ended up going with Bell (admirals sister company) and had absolutly no trouble

Previous to that i had an insurance company ask for the V5 of my vehicle, my and named drivers licenses, no claims ect. With bell all iv had to do is fill an online form in for the no claims and thats that.

Thanks for all the advice
Gone through all the comparison sites, but most companies won't even quote me, probably as I'm only 22. Tried Direct Line and Aviva but I'd have to be over 25 with both of them.
Will contact some of the insurance companies mentioned here and see if I can get anything to beat Admiral.
Just feels so wrong that an accident that was nothing to do with me is now costing me more money...
Thanks again, Jonny
