Default is my gearbox finished :( really tough to get into 2nd ?

any help appeciated, I'm clueless on impreza'a and havent had my car that long either I have just spent about half hour searching the forum, but couldnt find anything close ??

so was just out in my car having went for 2nd gear at lights very low revs not going for it at all, and it wouldnt go into gear, in the end I got it in and it will go if I mess about with the revs but it really doesnt feel right at all no nice click just feels like I'm forcing it and it's not really going in properly and the lever is very stiff going in and out of only 2nd, apart from that car still drives as before, when you can get it and out of 2nd it will stay in gear and isnt rattling however I did think at the weekend that my car was whining more in 4th and 5th then it was before, but I have never been in an Impreza before this one and I searched when i first bought it and it seemed a slight whine wasnt out of the ordinary

gearbox is a TY754VN2AA is that an easy one to find ?

is there any chance this is the linkage not the box ?

wheres the best place to get a box and how much should I expect to pay ?

I gather changing the clutch while I'm at it, is a good idea ? clutch is all ok, but dont wish to take the box off again in the future..

what clutch does everyone recomened ? MUST NOT be heavier to operate then standard

any pointers greatfully reccived only just got the car and I'm really gutted, was due to go to the ring in it in a month (ferrys booked ) but looks like theres a very real chance of me pulling out so I can buy a new box/clutch

Gutted, please help if you can.....................

Is it definitly a fault in the box?

Is the oil level ok?

Is it getting worse?

Thanks for the pointers everyone,
Well after an early start yesterday morning I made my Way to API to see David, by the time I turned off the motorway to get into API's Village the stereo was on 22 to drown out the whine
So after a swift battering of the card I came away with

New reconditioned Gearbox
Lightned Flywheel
New uprated heavy duty clutch
Service while I was there -
New PFR6B Plugs
Obviously new gearbox oil
Diff oil
Oil and air filter

Gotta say Big Thanks To Dave and the team at API

they was very good keeping me In the loop on a couple of issues and not charging me for one of them and running me and my Dad about while the car was being done highly recomnended place, the car now literally drives as new, clutch is lovely and light, engine spins up quicker due to the flywheel and the gearbox is snick snickety precise, and quiet Happy Days

So since buying the car it’s had, new tyres all round, new discs and pads, new as above, cambelt and brake/coolant fluid,
So as far as I can tell I have done everything

I bnought the car cheap knowing it needed a nip n tuck but I know it's spot on now as it's a genuine nice car that had just been slightly neglected in the last few years, well pleased with the car

heres to at least a year of hassle free Impreza ownership…………………………………….I'm off to the Ring next Friday
