Default Forging my EJ20!! What Parts to use???

Hi guys, ive decided to remove and strip my ej20 myself, i would like to rebuild it with forged pistons and rods assuming the crank etc is servicable, im not planning to run mega power, probably around the 300bhp ball park, im aware of a good number of manufacturers offering all kinds of different variations of forged pistons and rods etc,
Does anyone know if there is a piston and rod kit avalable and/or can anyone recommend a good reliable manufacturer?
Thanks guys.
p.s i have the TD05 turbo already and plan to fit the de-cat front pipe, prior to the re-map once run in!!

Stick a thread in "projects" when you know what bits to use as I'd love to see how it's done

TX.

PS

I've got Wiseco forged pistons & Manley forged rods.

I see. So you are going to use a open deck block for the rebuild. Just a suggestion, if your going to go through all that work why not use a closed deck block or even a semi closed deck block.

Right then, having been through several diy builds I feel I can offer some good advice.

First off decide where you'd like to be power wise.
There is absolutely no need to go to the expense of closed deck blocks and the machining associtated with them if you're only wanting 300 or so bhp.

An open deck 2.0L block will easily cope with circa 450-500 bhp no problem.

Plenty of good options around for piston and rod combos some cracking deals to be had from over the pond.

Also it depends what your budget is too.

However lets say you're wanting a nice responsive road car with circa 350bhp

To do the job properly and reliably you'd need the following:

New Crank, standard subaru one will be fine.
Rods, Manleys are a good option for the levels you seek.
Pistons, Recommend Wisecos
New crank bearings only one choice really ACL race series bearings.
Get the block honed to suit the pistons
get the block refaced and the heads skimmed
use cosworth head gaskets
Get a walbro 255 fuel pump and get a proper Fuel pressure regulator.

That lot should be go with the TD05 nicely.

New oil pump and modine are a must, IMHO. Check turbo feed for signs of swarf too !

Right i think im getting my head around these engines now, so i am thinking around the 300bhp ball park certainly not alot more in order to keep it fairly reliable whilst being abit of fun, the walbro pump i have recently placed an order for and am investigating the fuel pressur regulators, i have the block booked at a local engine shop i have used for years who did my race engines when i was a kid, he has a guy working therewhos done loads of these so thats a bonus! im thinking for my needs, manley rods, mahle pistons, crank polish and acl bearings, new oil pump and modine, real good proper clean out and flush through, and obviously gaskets seals, cam belt kit and water pump etc.
Does that sound sensible to you guys?

or you can send your block to enginetuner and for just over 2k/2.5k you can have a forged 2.1 stroker

I would also avoid polishing the crank, do a search on here to find out why.
