ive got a 1995 scooby wrx its missfiring its **** off its dont boost at all theres smoke coming out the oil filler ive checked coil packs and plugs they seem fine some said its crank preasure is this true

 

any ideas

 

hi mate through experiance i would say that if you have got smoke exiting the oil filler with the cap off and it is missfiring then the problem is more than likely to be piston rings kaput or possibly a piston with a hole in the crown. you said that you have already checked the coilpacks and plugs so they can be eliminated from the checklist i would recommend getting the engine compression tested as that would be my next shout if it was my car.

yes but not with my scoob, i melted piston4 and the cyl head on my old rst and it did exactly the same as yours symptom wise. is yours starting ok? if it is taking more turns and longer to fire up than normal then that would be a sure sign of compression problems.

 

yes mate it does take longer to start so what will i need to do get a new pistons for it or some 1 said it would be cheaper to get a recon engine

yes it would be cheaper to get another lump but if you do try to get it from a reputable source. i still think you should get the compression checked just to comfirm the diagnosis, or another way is if you have got a boost gauge it should read roughly 21-23 inhg on idle (hot). hope i have helped and hope everything turns out well for you mate.
