hi guys just wondering can a v5 ecu take the tek3 map?? looking at buying a v5 then getting it mapped via some 1 from here?

Yes the MY99 V5 ecu can be remapped via ecutek or opensource.

Take care as the V5s seem to suffer engine failure quite a bit. Keep £3k spare or buy one with a rebuild.

thanks guys,, what do u mean the v5's suffer engine failure??? kind of worried now?? there a v4 i have my eye on 2?? should i be looking more to that?

The version 5/6s had fragile mafs which did result in engine failures if the symptoms were not spotted early enough.

Mine is now +100k and had a rebuild at 84k.

Great cars don't get me wrong, in fact owned one myself a few years back. Engine blew on mine though I'd recommend getting one that's already been rebuilt as the clock is ticking on the engine otherwise.

PS

They used the V5 engine in the P1 & it suffers from rebuild issues too ...

thanks guys,, wat about the v4's?? they any better? ive had a white sti v3 wagon before. the bottom end started knocking that had 117000 km on clock then i had a 2001 wrx wagon with the full v7 lump/running gear/interior. no problems at all with that?
