Default driveshaft through bearing replacement??

hi guys,
my wrx uk300 front driveshaft support bearings and oil seals have completly gone on both sides, has anyone got any info on replacing the bearings and seals.
can the berings be replaced from the outside like the oil seal or does the transfer box need come off so i can get to the back of the bearing?
also a my2001 manual or any pics would be very helpfull

cheers

You need to be clearer in your description as what you have written is very confusing.

Maybe after downloading this you may be able to make it clearer what the problem is..........

Default layshaft bearing replacement

hi thanks for the link, been looking for ages trying to find a manual, cheers

Im talking about the bearings that are on the front diff which support the lay shaft that the drive shafts connects to. they are located each side ofthe gearbox behnd a castle'ated lock ring at the top of each driveshft where they go into the gearbox, i need to replace these bearings and oil seals on both sides but am not sure if the bearings can be removed and replaced without taking the gearbox and transfer case apart.
any one know?

thanks

looking at the diagrams in the manual it looks as if i need to remove the gearbox and split the transmission case so that the bearing can be pulled off of the shaft,

Do you have loads a lift on the driveshaft inner joint?? The castle outer ring has a 10mm bolt with a lock type behind it. Remove this tap the alloy castle ring round till there's a little lift then refit the locker bolt and tab

yeah got lots up/down movement causing a knocking over bumps, after reading the manual i was wondering if it is possible to just adjust the bearing by turning the rings like you suggest but wouldn't this mess up the backlash adjustment? (couldn't make it any worse i suppose)
ill give it a try, thanks craig

Long as you don't over tighten leave a little play, you'll be rocking
