I remember some comments about the MY99 ECU having more boost on part throttle so it felt more lively.

Looking at the maps of the MY99 and MY00 on the Ecutek site I noticed that the MY99 ECUs have duty cycles and boost targets that are the same across all loads, whereas the MY00 duty cycles and targets are lower at lower loads.

From watching the way the ECU controls boost it seems that it does not raise the duty cycle to reach a target it just drop the duty cycle if you are over target. So the MY99 is not actually producing full boost on part throttle, but with the duty cycle being higher it is producing more than MY00.

On the EBC then I am not going to bother scaling the duty cycle according to TPS, but copy the effect of the MY99 ECU until about 70% throttle and then all hell breaks loose with the PI control

Question

I still don't know how the TEK1 can produce such an improvement over the AE802 (30bhp?). The TEK2 has good results and you'd expect a good improvement with a bespoke/PPP type map. So can the std ECU produce better results than say the LINK when reprogrammed?

F
PS sorry John a little off topic.

I don't think there would be anything at all in it if you applied the equivalent fuelling, ignition and boost to the remap and the Link map.

I see your point. It cleared things up.
