Default STI10 Hawkeye 6 Speed in to 94 Classic

Ive tried searching but the facility is down, is there any issues with the speedo drive when fitting the sti10 Hawkeye TY856WG8KA in to a 94 Classic. I remember reading somewhere there was incompatibility problems with the 94 mechanical speedo drive due to a difference in the later 6 speed bell housing, is this correct or was it a different box?

You unscrew the electrical sender on the six speed. Then the mechanical one from the 5 speed goes into the six speed. Just make sure you line the needle of the cable up with the groove in the box and you'll be fine. I've done it on mine. It's a doddle to do and will be self explanitory once you unscrew the current electrical sender.

If you're really stuck I'll take some pics but it really is simple to do.

Later 6 speeds have no conventional speedo drive that earlier cars can connect to. There isn't even a hole in the casing to fit one.

We have expensively had a jig made, to re-create the hole that is necessary to do as Daz says above.

We can convert new style bellhousings for £150.00 + VAT if a bellhousing is supplied off a gearbox. Or we can remove the housing for you and refit; at extra cost obviously.

It is not possible to get the 3 dimensional hole in the correct place and angle by any other means - believe me we tried.
