Default possible thermostat problem ??

just after christmas i put a engine out of another scoob ov mine into a car i have at present got it all running and all the air out the system (so i belive) the car has no tax so its bein sat on the drive but has bein started and let run for about an hour or so every2 days to make sure its okay all the heating was working fans and everything .

then i started a new job and the car hadnt bein started in 2weeks so i started it let it run as b4 only got upto temp alot quicker than normall and cold air cumming out the fans and temp gauge goin up but wen u rev the car to about 3500 rpm u get this burst of hot air come threw till you let go of the throttle then it gose cold again so i let the engine cool header tank was empty so filled it n checked it for about and hour till the level didnt go down

restarted it all fine for about 20 mins then same again possible that the thermostat isnt working ???

^^^^^^what he said or could be a sticking thermostat but air leak (given the engine swap) would be my first thought

i thought i was hard to get an airlock as the system bleeds itself, even with an air bubble in the system the level would rise in the header tank overflowing the water into the expansion bottle (the air bubble causing the header tank to do this would then dispurse itself, so i thought anyway

touches wood but done a few cooalnt changes/new rad etc with no issues

well if the water level in the header tank remains in the same place i would pass it offf as a air lock and not worry too much about it.
