Default The effects of black ice !!!!!!!

The effects of hitting black ice and losing my back end tried to correct it by coming off my gas lesson learnt never come off the power to get out of a skid. im hoping its not a write off, if it is i will be buying it back from the insurance so parts are going to be available i.e. HID zenon lights, DCCD gearbox, Engine with 24,000 miles with vvt heads, twin scroll set up, brembos, sti interior etc etc if i decide to break it or sell as a job lot,. it cost me 14k 10 months ago and needs a door and the sill pulling slightly and the rear door gap has become wider,. will get the full evaluation on monday of the damage. will update im gutted and do not want it to be wrote off. fingers crossed eh

Unlucky fella

Not looking good for ya, if the rear door gap has widened then possibly you have bent the 'B' pillar

Best of anyway

Cheers lads if that fookin lamp post wasnt there i would have nothing more than a scratch on my alloy where it mounted the kerb,. and slid on the mud,. im a bit shook up and getting a headache already and pulled a muscle in my neck, cut my hand and my head hit the window so a golf ball on my head lol.
What sort of price am i looking at buying it back from the insurance for anybody any ideas i am under the impression it is 10% of its value, which was 14k and what are these worth now with 24,000 miles and mint. V-Limited 2003 JDM twin scroll, DCCD and CDiff,.
Feeling really depressed i had to borrow a friends vauxhall frontera that is like a skip on wheels cos the insurance havent given me a courtesy car in case its a write off on monday. im really hoping its not a write off and am i entitled to a second opinion.

Surely thats repairable, at least you didnt bend the roof or im sure they would write it off!
Gutted for you though fella, someone recently wrote my mint classic STi off so I know the feeling too.
If they do write it of then why not buy it back and get it repaired yourself? I know it would be worth alot less but thats what I would do. Just another thought for you thats all.

Think it depends on how much damage there is to the chassis, a side impact can give the car a big jolt but gutted for you, these are lovely cars and pretty hard to replace, only about 4 in the country.

Hard luck, kid. At least YOU are OK

Do you think that lifting off the gas gave you any more oversteer?

BTW: I bet you get a bill for the 40mph sign

that is deffo going to be an insurance write off (simply because of the price of parts) however that more than likely can be repaired if you use second hand parts
If I was you I would buy it back for next to nothing and get on the case to find a good bodyworker

Do NOT break it bud, all the best

I got the rear quarter bumped on my old classic, similar damage to yours. car wasa CAT C write off which meant it could be fixed and be put back on the road. I bought the car back from insurers for 10% of the valuation (£400). I sold the car on to a panel beater and its now back on the road. It worked out financially better for me for that to happen. Although the accident was caused by another road user, and a personal injury claim had to be made also

I recently had an accident and the car was written off.
The insurance co offered a stupid price and I ended up going to the Insurance Ombudsman who sorted things out.
To buy the car back I was informed it was 19% of the value of the car however I managed to do a deal. I wouldn't dare broadcast what I got the car for though.

Good luck with it, time is a good healer.

Cheers Ayde if you could pm me so i can contact you if i need to purchase the side skirt from you........i am hoping the insurance deduct the purchase of the car from the settlement figure otherwise i am going to have to cough up the dosh up to 10 - 20 % dependant on how much they sell it back to me for, and do they send me a cheque for the difference and do i let the finance company know what has happened? and would i need to forward the cheque to the finance company if i am still paying for the car,..i have never had a situation like this before so dont know the processes as its my first proper ding

How did you do that silver demon did it dent the sill or was it just the door, if so mine will definately get wrote off as mine is older so not as valuable. nice car its always a shame when you see them dinged,. i always wrapped mine up in cotton wool, even getting people at work to park either side of my car so idiots dont dent my doors opening there doors into them.

A lorry didn't see me and just came out of a junction. Managed to hit the brakes and turn off the road a little to minimise to damage.

No damage to the sill or B pillar. Needed a new door, wing, two near side alloys and tyres.
Took the insurance 4 months to sort!

Spray Tech in Grantham fixed it up and you can't tell its been repaired (and I'm very picky lol!)
