Default focus st

my mates both have uprated focus sts

and i just cant keep up with them

i reckon mine is aound 300php-ish and will soon be up abit on that

im not too far behind them, and obv on the bends im prob a touch up on them

they have "stage1 " mods, uprated intercoolers, exhaust, chipped ect, GGR induction and forge intercoolers i think

they also have quaife diffs

but id like to be able to pull away on stright lines

there engines are more revvy, i have to change well before them, and obv top speed there off, but thats kindof the reason id like to pull away a bit quicker 0-100.

what kindof power level would i need to get to to acheive this?

std ST 225, what they done to get 300bhp,
Stage 1 isn't 300bhp, or is it?
http://pumabuild.co.uk/mods_focus_st.htm

as asked, whats your car?

To 'pull away' from 300bhp car.... would you need 350+bhp?

guys my bhp is a total guestimation

its just what ive been told my mods should see me at

like i said it ll be dynod after its mapped

however dyno figures vary so much it seems

what ill do is get us all booked in somehwere for a day - then even if figures are out it should still give proportionate differences betwenn vehicles

I have a 98 sti, and a modded st drove past me a junction and i could see him puttin foot down so i floored it, caught him in no time and was past him easy, and at that time i only had full decat and apexi induction kit. I would get your car checked out, once its mapped by a decent mapper you should annialate them.

You can get huge amounts of torque from the ST e.g. with the mountune (?) package. Not to be underestimated.

Certainly would get OPs dyno'd though.

its an earlt sti i have standard 250bhp ish

so with mods i have id be looking at 300bhp-ish mapped by andy forrest

ive got more powerloss through transmission, and with roughly the same power it makes sense the focus beats me, once rolling amnyway

im presuming weight is similar?

his focus i would class as fcking rapid tbh, but ive never been in a car with for example 400bhp, to compare his too.

Go for a VF series turbo then the remap and you should see 330.
Enough to keep up perhaps?

Don't quite understand why they pull away, had a mate spend £9000 at wolf racing and his focus st was only kickin out 300 bhp,had launch control , LSD , etc . Icould still hammer him off the lights in my lightly modded uk turbo, after 70 mph he would power off in the distance.when it was damp or raining his LSD could not cope & it was game over evertime

I have owned much faster cars in my97 Sti ra on a daily basis. Being an old fart people think I should have groan out of it but I haven’t yet lol your car can not be running 300 mate, either it is down on power or you are carrying to much weight in the car (that’s in the car not “your fat”)

Whats the full spec of your car?

Dont bother with a VF turbo, your standard TD05 is more than a match for a VF28/34/35 and its reliable! Also you would have to alter the VF to a 90 degree inlet.

yaeh ill be sticking with the td05, andy forrest recommended its fine up to 350bhp, and quite a robust unit

my spec is
walbro
440 cc inj
fmic
ngk prf7s
apexi induction kit
apexi power fc
japspeed down pipe decat - blitz nur spec down pipe back system
exedy clutch

hi boost is set at 1 bar

im getting my avcr fitted this week which will see hopefully 1.3maybe 1.4 bar

also in next 3 next weeks im gettin ported headers/up pipe and a wee map tweak if needed

mine has the ra box, so tops out 120mph-ish, well redlines at that and i dont like taking it there lol

dont get me wrong there not p*ssing all over me - but i would like to be noticably quicker, ie be a car lengths infront or more 0-100

too much to ask you think?
