Just swap the heater box! I'm sure it's been mentioned in your previous posts
it's called an evaporater core,
yes the dash has to come out

i know i need to swap boxes but nobody mentioned taking the dash out to get to it lol so imagine my horror as i was trying for 3 and a half hours trying to get the box out from under the dash (behind the glovebox) obviously to no avail.

so does anybody have any tips on doing this then or anyone know of a how 2?

It's been a while since i last done one but it goes something like this...

Evacuate AC system of gas - don't just discharge it into the atmosphere

Clocks out
lower kick panel off drivers side of dash
Disconnect relevant wiring and drop steering column
gearstick surround panel off
stereo, ashtray and centre trim panel off
Glovebox out
Unbolt, disconnect wiring and take Dash out
Metal Brace Bar (behind dash) out
Disconnect AC pipe couplers in the engine bay
AC box out

It's a fairly straightforward job, and should take a competent DIY mechanic about 5 Hours to complete. - If you want me to do it for you, drop me a PM

Seriously no offence intended Taylor 83, if your mechanical knowledge doesn't extend any further than where you've got should you be dealing with an air conditioning system? There are very tight rules in place for dealing with air con. It's not really a job for joe public! Very soon it won't be a job for joe public at all!! The sooner the better, in my eyes!! IMHO

cheers fiestaboy

And ric i consider myself to have reasonable mechanical knowledge and capabilaty but when you post asking if anybody has any tips or how2's on how to remove and install aircon and nobody tells you about having to take the dash out you kind of presume that you can get to it without removing the dash. So i was trying to do that plus i was nowhere near where i live and i wasnt about to remove my dash when i need to drive home. If i had known about that then i would of brought the evaporater from some1 who is breaking there car and given myself the appropriate amount of time to do the job at my house but thanks for the help anyway

Your car will need to look like this.

I had one go on my 2000 V5 UK Turbo. It took two trained guys nearly 4 hours in total to do.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention you'll need the cooling fans as well, will either be a dual fan in cowling or a twin speed single fan, good luck with it all! If you doing it outside you may want to vacuum the system for several hours
