I use the one with the Ferrari logo on it. I think it may be 5w40, but don't know without looking in garage.

What year is the car?

To be honest, for what Shell charge, you can do a lot better.

Cheers

Did you ask the person who told you why this is supposedly the case?

Just 123 ,you are correct,i have the same MY car as yours and the shell does reccommend this as ok for the uk turbo.I added this to my car the 2nd day i bought it,(to act as a flushing oil)and after 2 weeks of spirited driving, the oil was breaking down(losing colour, degredation).
I have since used shell helix ultra fully synthetic 5w 40 and had no such problems after
the last 2 oil changes , this oil is also reccommended by bob rawle . There are better oils out there you can buy than shell helix ultra, but in any case you should be looking at a decent fully synthetic oil with the right viscosity - cant believe you were contemplating putting £27 oil in a car that has a min of 208 bhp,and when on boost generates a fair bit of heat.
Oil is the one the main things for the smooth running of your engine - if you buy cheap it can cost you dearly.

Yes I use shell helix ultra (5w40) also (not the 5w30 stuff, thats not good in a classic )

£27 is cheap for 5l of Helix, it was £17.99 per litre in my local Shell the other day. I laughed a little

You can get away with a 5w-40 in a classic, but a 10w-50 is better. A newer Impreza prefers a 5w-40 as the engine tolerances are tighter.

Oil is the one the main things for the smooth running of your engine - if you buy cheap it can cost you dearly.
Even the top oils only cost the same as a tank of petrol, a seized engine costs a whole lot more

yes oilman the £27 he is referring to is for is for 5 ltrs of shell helix plus which is a semi synthetic motor oil. 1 tr of shell helix ultra(fully synthetic) is as you say is £17.99 ,where as 5 ltrs of helix ultra is £40.00, dont quite know how shell work that 1 out.

Difference in quality basically. The Ultra will meet a lot more OE specs as well
