Question another oil question...

I have been using silkolene pro s 10/50 for around 4 to 5 years now and have not used anything else.

I change my oil every 5k miles.

I do not to any track driving and the odd 1/4 miles in the year.

most of my driving is to the shops and back.

im running more power than standard.

sometimes i feel it is a waist using this oil as i do not use my car for what the oil can take.

what other oil would you recomend using for me?

thanks

The problem is with the forged engines, a 10w-50 is ideal, and there isn't a cheap one. My advice would be to wait for the Pro S or Millers CFS to be on offer and buy it then and give the car a bit of a thrash to make it worthwhile I know what you mean about wasting money, but the engine is getting better protection than it would with something else and it costs about the same as a tank of fuel.

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

5w-40, 5w-40 oil, 5w40, 5w/40

Out of those, the best ones are the Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Gulf Formula G, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Synt S are good, cheaper alternatives.

Not so sure on the coolant change, every 2 years I think.

Coolant, Antifreeze, Hydraulic, Suspension Fluid

Cheers

Hi

I'd go for the same as my reply above, a good 5w-40 oil.

Cheers

Often I think it's price, 10w-40's are generally cheaper. 10w can be better in classics and forged engines though, due to larger engine tolerances.

I would not bother just fill the oil filter with oil before you screw it on and you will be fine
