SORRY
Insurance could not be found
Sorry it has not been possible to locate insurance details for the vehicle on the Motor Insurance Database at this time and you are unable to complete your application for a tax disc using this service.
It could be that your current policy expires shortly before the new licence start date. You will need to apply for the tax disc at a licence-issuing Post Office® or DVLA Local Office (as applicable for the vehicle) using the reminder (Vehicle Licence Application/SORN Declaration) or the Registration Document/Certificate together with the Insurance Certificate or Cover Note, MOT Test Certificate/GVT Test certificate (if applicable) and fee.
Check that the vehicle registration mark (number plate) shown on your insurance document is the same as that shown on your vehicle registration certificate. If it is incorrect you will need to contact your insurance company to update the insurance record.
If you have recently renewed, updated or changed the insurance Policy the vehicle details may not yet have been updated on the Motor Insurance Database.
If you have not yet insured your vehicle please be aware it could be impounded by the relevant authorities.
PLEASE ALLOW 24 HOURS FOR YOUR INSURANCE RECORD TO BE UPDATED BEFORE YOU USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.
IF YOU DO USE THIS SERVICE WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS, YOUR TRANSACTION WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL.

Is your renewal date around the same time as when the tax disc is due to start? I've had this problem, where the current policy will have ended but the next year's isn't yet on their database.
If so, try just waiting a week and then have another go.

Insurance is due 1st Feb .. A plan are fine, all up to date, they are getting my renewal stuff to me ASAP to try and help, I've got no issues with them, but this could see me being pulled over ...
If insurance is due 1st Feb and the new Tax Disc begins from 1st Feb (01/02/10 - 31/01/11) that is where the problem is.
Your current insurance expires on Midnight Jan 31st I guess, therefore on the 1st Feb for renewal you'll have no insurance (as they currently see it) no insurance = not able to get tax.
I've had same thing in the past and I just went to the post office and got mine. I think it fails if your policy expires within a week or 2 either side as I'm sure I still had about a week on mine.

They sometimes don't log you on the MID (they should) hence the computer says no when it checks. I'm with A Plan too & had to point out that one of our cars didn't show when I checked ... did appear shortly after I mentioned it though
