Question 06 Hawkeye STI PP, Engine Overrun, Rev's Overun when lifting off throttle?? Help!!

Hi,

I'm getting engine run when i lift of the throttle, So say i take my foot off the throttle at 6,000RPM, it keeps goign to about 7,000 RPM ( WHEN IM HARD ON THROTTLE ). This is not good as couple times as hit rev limitr and feels liek you have no control over car!!. I've only just got it,

It has PPP, but last owner has just put Miltek centre pipe and rear box in last month, Could the car require a remap now?

Oh a fly by dire car.... that may be your problem, see if the dealers have any software upgrades for the fly by wire throttle control.

Possible but maybe not - has it only just started happening or has it happened ever since the exhaust changes?

perhaps not a re-map but it would be worth getting it checked out by a mapper, i have the same car with ppp and had it mapped and it runs a whole lot smoother now with 340 bhp and a re-map would be a good investment for you if you drive it quite hard as the map will be a more accurate and a safer map.

ok, Sorry.

I just PM the last owner on here, He said car was perfect when he sold it back to Garage, and was similar exhaust system... just different make and sound etc. So i guess nothing to do with exhaust!

That doesn't sound like the mapping it sounds like the fly by wire throttle. You need to take it to a deler! told you ya should fo went for JDM

The last owner fitted the miltek, then sold it to the garage with it on. I them brought it off the garage Friday, then I found the last owner on here so I pm him and he said car was always ok, even after he changed exhaust .

It shouldnt - just trying to establish what had been changed recently if it had only just started doing it.

The DBW motors seem to be a possible culprit.

if it were me mate i would just go back to the garage and tell them to get a main dealer to have a look at it , it might save you a few quid , and if they dont sort it BURN their garage down.

I had emailed them today, but no reply, perhaps I'll call them tomorrow. Is there any wast for me to test the DBW motor with a scope or anything?
