Default Ultimate Spec UK Turbo??

Ok, if my EK9 sells... I'm possibly considering a return to the fold and have decided that if that happens, I'm likely to buy another good 99/00 UK Turbo as a base to work from, with a view to putting it at a solid 300bhp and 300ft/lb once modified.

I want ultimate response/spool possible on a 2.0 engine which carries the power all the way to the 7,000 redline and a wee bit of wastegate/turbo stall would be nice too.

The spec list that I was considering would be:

TD04 Hybrid from AFP (No dumpvalve, as I believe the TD series can handle this)
Standard 440cc Injectors
Walboro 255l p/hr
Uprated Fuel Pressure Reg
Apexi Power Intake with Resonator Delete and Cold Air Feed
Full De-Cat 2.5" Turbo Back Exhaust
Ported Headers and Up-Pipe
Uprated Spark Plugs
Autobahn88 FMIC with Heat Wrapped Pipework (I know this will introduce some lag, but I like look and would want to run a Sport Bonnet)
EcuTek Mapped

Is there anything that I've missed... I want a minimum and genuine (not deltadash) 300/300 from the spec, so is this achievable with the above? Are there bits I should change or upgrade?

Cheers,
Grant

Thanks mate, I had a look and the 18g would defo do the numbers.. you should be comfortably over 300!! ....but fitting that would also sacrifice the 'instant' spool time which I'm after.

I really like the standard UK Turbos quick spool and believe that changing to the hybrid version will carry the power to the redline, which the standard TD04 cannot do as it runs out of puff around 5k from memory.

I also don't want a huge thump in the back from the likes of an 18/20g, I'd much prefer a smaller, smoother and quicker surge to give more punchy and driveable performance. I'd consider a VF34/35 replacement, however, they aren't supposed to like the no DV action too much which I'd certainly be running.

Cheers,
Grant

won't need the pressure reg.

keep the DV, unless your thrashing it to within an inch of its life it won't make any difference at all, just add pressure to the turbo.

Also set up right the lag you speak of wont exist. so all you relay need is below

VF35 or 34
Standard 440cc Injectors
Walboro 255l p/hr
Apexi Power Intake with Resonator Delete and Cold Air Feed
Full De-Cat 2.5" Turbo Back Exhaust
Uprated Spark Plugs
Autobahn88 FMIC with Heat Wrapped Pipework
EcuTek Mapped

also might be worth a oil cooler, nocklink and decent set of gauges to keep an eye on things, also after that your onto bonus things, like headers, pulleys, lightweight flywheel etc etc

My spec (well the important bits):

VF35 (it's fine without a dumpvalve)
550 injectors (440cc would do)
Walboro 255l p/hr
K&N 57i filter
Sports cat DP rest of exhaust De-Cat 2.5" Exhaust
Uprated Spark Plugs
Hybrid FMIC (Heat Wrapped the Pipework; noise insulation as well as heath insulation)
Simtek ECU. You could use Ecutek, but it's not optimal anymore for the MY99/00: Horrible boost cut feature that can't be mapped out, no in gear boost compensation facility; you have to retain the fragile maf sensor etc..
You'll need an uprated clutch, suggest the Exedy organic, and get a lighter flywheel whilst you're at it...not too light though.

Suspension:

Eibach coilovers (probably the best for road use) .... but if ride quality is important over really poor surfaces is important to you: stick with stock springs and dampers and upgrade your anti roll bars.

Brakes: Ap 6 pots: the daddies, fit and forget!

I think mine is getting near to an ideal spec a classic now. Would like a 6 speed from a new age in it....that's about it......till I go for a significantly bigger upgrade

Produces 340bhp and 340 plus ft lbs torque. Excellent response and great noise. TBH all you'd ever need from a performance car; will drive away from most things, is very easy to drive and completely reliable.

Best turbo you could use given your goals.

(No dumpvalve, as I believe the TD series can handle this)
The turbo can but the 99-00 MAF can't, for very long. As has already been said this is a pointless mod from a performance point of view, you'd be better off leaving the standard DV or, better, fitting a newage STi intercooler and matching DV.

Standard 440cc Injectors
Walboro 255l p/hr
Uprated Fuel Pressure Reg
You shouldn't need to change the pressure regulator at this power level and the standard fuel pump should be fine too. However, I'd change this purely on a precautionary basis given that the car you're talking about buying will be arriving with a 9-10 year old pump in it.

Apexi Power Intake with Resonator Delete and Cold Air Feed
I wouldn't. Stick with the standard induction tract (including the resonator) and a tidy panel filter. If you want a feed from the wing you'd be better off remodelling the resonator to accept a cold air feed from below, and then blocking off the hole in the inner wing panel.

Autobahn88 FMIC with Heat Wrapped Pipework (I know this will introduce some lag, but I like look and would want to run a Sport Bonnet)
It'll introduce more than some lag, and in the context where one of your stated aims is "ultimate response/spool possible on a 2.0 engine" throttle, an FMIC is simply the wrong way to go. If you want an FMIC for the sake of it, then by all means go for it, but it seems a dull idea given that the whole stated ethos of the build is throttle response.

As above you'd be far better off with a newage STi top mount and its dumpvalve.

Is there anything that I've missed... I want a minimum and genuine (not deltadash) 300/300 from the spec, so is this achievable with the above? Are there bits I should change or upgrade?
It should be possible to get the number you're after with a little to spare. The FMIC and DV delete are bad ideas though, given what you claim you want out of it.

I wouldn't be so sure on the lag issue with the front mount setup correctly makes no feelable difference.
