Default Anyone seen rust around the rear window like this ?

A mate at work complained about water leaking into his boot on his '99 Impreza turbo so I offered to take a look at it and this is what I found !

Where the bottom of the window should be sealed to the panel it's all corroded and where the boot seal fits there's some metal missing and the water is just running straight into the boot !

Any ideas what's the best way to tackle this ? I'm shocked at how bad it is for a car of this year to be honest.

Not looking too clever is it.
I'd consider chopping a good bit out of a scrap scooby and replacing it.

I know,i've worked on 100's of cars and haven't seen anything this bad apart from old Maestro's and Metro's !

How much do you think a bodyshop would want to repair it as it's something I don't think I want to tackle myself to be honest ?

I doubt there are many '93s anywhere near that bad, never mind '99s.
