Reliant Robin? Challenging handling...

More seriously, ask yourself what you want from a car and why the WRX bores you. If you want a more challenging drive, consider something small and light.

...but if you want 4 doors, back seats, it's an intriguing challenge. I'd personally think about a 330D, but I'd have to think damn hard

The WRX is fast and superb to drive, but is not thrilling enough for my liking. Might try out the Evo IV.

is the 330d really that good - why 330d - surely diesel can't be better than the standard car?

When (if) I sell my car, I'm going up another ladder and get myself a Nissan Skyline.

Not thrilling enough but your considering a TT or Beemer 323Ci ....eh??

Your going even softer than the WRX!!

If you want four doors there only one way and thats the Evo way. You`ve read the threads...Evo`s too hard for me...no good for daily commuting....blah, blah, blah. Its all bullsh*t, the Evo is a brilliant car fullstop. If you want a true rally replica and not a softened version the Evo`s the way togo.

If you want performance fullstop then go the lightweight westfield way, you`ll not get any better.

As for taking another step up the ladder with a Skyline, unless you are prepared to tune it to 500bhp+ then your not taking any steps up any ladder!

Test drive is the only way, turn up in ya WRX and you`ll get a test drive in any of the above cars at any dealership

Rich.

Oh and there no way I would swap a scoob (even a bug-eyed one ) for a 323 or TT

If you are thinking of a TT you might as well keep the scooby far better drivers car than the TT IMO..
As for the Beemer get the 330Ci rear wheel drive monster. Or even an M5 now there's a car (Loads of dosh).
I always remember Tiff and Clarkson in the M5 and Jag racing round the Mira Test Track. Bludy Brilliant.
BUT then again I would keep my Scooby

You're talking to a felow "ricer" here who's seriously thinking of putting NOS in his WRX.

Anyway as to how much it might cost, just go to the autotrader website and you'll see several for sale. They are one of the coolest cars about but I'll just stick to my precious for now. She has gold alloys. You hear that pslewis!! GOLD ALLOYS!!!

Skylines are excellent, and if I hadn't had the owner back out on me I'd have one now! Meantime as I can't find another good skyline I may get a cheaper runnaround... Looking at a nice RX7 tommorrow. Lovely cars, but then again I may end up with another impreza at this rate, at least there's plenty to choose from

The BMW 330d is that good! My old man had one and the torque is verging on being stupid. She'd (momentarily) pin you in your seat more than a scooby but unfortunatly couldn't sustain it (runs out of revs). If they ever make a derv car that can pull like they do all the way to 8000rpm I'd never buy another petrol. Get caught with low revs over a fairly short distance and the 330d will destroy an Impreza, you've all been warned!

Cool

And he loves it so much he posts it twice
I'll come out and say it I Hate BMW's and all they stand for, however, it has to be admitted (grudgingly), the 330d is a very impressive piece of kit.

I feel the same way about Impreza's lately, fast as hell but not much fun.
I'm going for the a Honda S2000. A proper RWD sports car.

I assume you want more power (bored). A Skyline is the obvious saloon on steroids. After that you will have to ditch two seats (Supra twin turbo, elise?). Then you could go for a totally unpractical track car such as westfield (bike engined) or Ultima GTR (both have serious power to weight ratio's). Personally I can't get on with FWD in a performance car or VVC engines (no substitute for cubic centemeters or forced induction). Personally after an sti I bought a turbo diesel and will be using a v8 Ultima at track days this year.

Is that why you don't use the car to get to work every day, AgentO?

ROFLMAO!!!!

I admit i personally dont use the Evo for commuting, but then again i wont take her out in the wet!

Also where i work, after been parked up for one day it`ll take you two washes of the car to get her anywhere near clean.( For the majority of you here that dont know, i work at a Powerstation, where they`ve nicely put the car park next to the cooling towers, one bit of a breeze and hey presto, your cars covered in dry scummy water, to the point you carnt see out of the windows some days )

The way, and the only way, is to test drive them all

Rich.

oh, and Saxo Boy, did you once write into a magazine praising the diesel BMW??.. remember reading sommat simular in "what Diesel" while sat in the dentist`s last year

What was it that Clarkson Said about BMWs built by germans driven by tossers. Yeh the bmw 330d may be nice but so is the price. Went to look at an M3 by the time I had the extras I wanted it was £52,000 . Got an sti with the same in for £29495. in my mind theres no comparison. I'd rather have the money in my pocket and a scoob. Same goes against the Evo VII

The Evo would have been the same price as your STi if you`ve paid that much for it, so surely you`d have the same amount of money in ya back pocket??
