Standard air box V K&N cone filter
Does anyone have any power figures relating to the stock air box with performance panel filter compared to a K&N induction cone filter?
I have been offered a stock air box to replace my cone, but have heard good and bad stories for both. What do i do?
Cheers

Does your cone filter have a cold air feed? Has your ECU been mapped specifically for it? Are you running a MAP-based ECU?
If the answer to any of the above is no you'll be better off with the standard pipework and a good filter.

My car is a 98 UK 2000, and think it has a non mappable standard ECU. I bought the car 4 weeks ago and it had the cone and a mini scoop above it fitted. I've removed the mini scoop as i was worried about water on the cone. The car is noticably slower without it, but is this just because its drawing in hot air?
listen to split pin,he advised me to remove my cone filter and use original box.power differance isnt noticable but im using green panel filter and the engine is so much smoother and theres no fear of the engine going south thru incorrect fueling.he talks sense he does!!lol.
same goes for dump valve.original is perfect for smooth running.
